Byers, Edna Margaret (Kromminga)
Edna Margaret (Kromminga) Byers, 102, died Dec. 31, 2009, in Springfield, Mo. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Anamosa. The Rev. Bill Nielsen will officiate at the service. Friends may call starting at 10 Tuesday morning at the church. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Anamosa.

Surviving are her two daughters, Sylvia (Scotty) Albers of Anamosa and Sharla Wilhoit of Springfield, Mo.; her grandchildren, Mike (Kim) Albers of Ankeny, Kathy (JR) Blok of Marion, Brett Wilhoit of Singapore and Parker (Paula) Wilhoit of Springfield, Mo.; great-grandchildren, Jodi and Amanda Blok, Kaitlyn and Daniel Albers, Nikolas, Morgan, Lucas and Chance Wilhoit; and a brother, Ed (Dorothy) Kromminga of Reeds Spring, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, on June 17, 1990; a sister, Ethel Wright; three brothers, Ralph, Richard and Fernando (Fritz) Kromminga; and a grandson, Scott Wilhoit.
Edna Margaret Byers was born Oct. 10, 1907, at her family home in Castle Grove Township. She was the daughter of Ed and Meta Neunaber Kromminga. She attended rural and Jones County schools and graduated from the Monticello High School. She was confirmed in 1923 at St. Peter and Paul Lutheran Church in Castle Grove. On Sept. 30, 1932, Edna and Charles William Byers were united in marriage in Galena, Ill.
Edna was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be remembered for her kindness and gentleness to all. She always put others first and will be missed dearly.
