Bye, Donald Merridith

Donald Merridith Bye, 78, of Palmetto Bay, Fla., formerly of Cedar Rapids, died May 6, 2011, at Jackson South Community Hospital, Miami. Private family memorial services will take place. Arrangements are with Stanfill Funeral Home, Miami.

Survivors include his wife, Fay (Buff) March-Bye; children, Jennifer (Bye) Degener (John Manion) and Jason Bye (Brigit); and grandchildren, Alex and Michael Degener and Jack and Natalie Bye.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Stella (Merridith) Bye.

Donald grew up in Cedar Rapids and received his bachelor's degree from the University of Iowa, where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He had a lifetime love of cars and racing, and spent much of his life involved in this sport as both a participant and spectator.

Donald was a man who was deeply loved and admired by his family, and was surrounded by them as he passed away peacefully.
