Butz, Betty Ann
Betty Ann Butz, 70, of Norway, passed from this earth into the arms of her Father on Oct. 30, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. She was surrounded by her family and passed away peacefully after a six-month illness. Her family knows that the stars in heaven will be brighter when this angel takes her place.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 4, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Norway, with Father Craig Steimel as celebrant. Interment will be at St. Michael's Cemetery, Norway. Betty's family will receive friends Sunday from 3 until 7 p.m. in the chapel at St. Michael's Church.
Betty was born Sept. 3,1943, in Benton County to Clifford and Helen (Frimml) Bartosh, and graduated from Norway High School in 1961. On Oct. 24 of that year she married her high school sweetheart, Gary Butz, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Walford.
In 1963, Betty became the very proud mother of her baby girl, Sharon, and later the same pride was shown in the birth of her son, Brian.
Betty then worked at the school and at Frontier Herbs while being the best mom and go-to-person around. She worked hospice and built a reputation as one of the best cooks around. You could come into her home and always know what time of the year it was by her decorating and the smells. She loved doing hobbies and crafts, the Hawkeyes and baseball. Betty also had a great love of her dogs.
Her grandchildren became the love of Betty's life.
Betty is survived by Gary, her husband of 52 years; Sharon (Rick) Brown and Chalet, Cedar Rapids; Brian (Paula) Butz and Tyler and Rachael, Walford; her brother, Gary Bartosh of Cedar Rapids; aunts, many first cousins, and her many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Ronald.
The world will be a lesser place with her not in it, and she will be greatly missed more than anyone will ever know.
May God hold her forever in His arms.
Brosh Funeral Service, Norway, is in charge of arrangements.
