Butschi, Richard 'Tom'
Richard “Tom” Butschi, 41, of 2615 Pheasant Ridge, Marion, died Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, after a long struggle with cystic fibrosis. Memorial services: 1 p.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
Survivors include his mother, Bobbie Caryl of Marion; father, Richard of Center Point; and a brother, Mark (Laura) of Robins. He is also survived by two nieces, Morgan and Tatum; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by an uncle, Keith Blin.
Tom was born July 12, 1969, in Cedar Falls. He graduated from Center Point High School in 1987. He attended the University of Northern Iowa, the University of Iowa and graduated from the nursing program at Kirkwood Community College. Tom worked at St. Luke's Hospital as an O/R Tech for several years.
He had a wide variety of interests. Tom enjoyed NASCAR and was a past member of the Cedar Rapids Corvette Club. He enjoyed fishing, was an avid Hawkeye, Dodger, Lakers and Rams fan. He had a great appreciation for all types of music and enjoyed the many great times shared with his family and his many many friends.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
