Carol M. Butler
(1938-2009)
Carol Minnie Butler, 71, Waterloo, died Saturday, August 15, 2009 at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls, of natural causes.
She was born May 23, 1938 in Dike, the daughter of Fred and Sylvia Naomi
(Stubbs) Roberts. She married Jerry Allan Butler on August 9, 1959 in Conrad.
Carol graduated from Dike High School in 1956, attended Cornell College in Mount Vernon, and the University of Northern Iowa. She was employed by the Waterloo Public Library and then the Waterloo Public School System as guidance secretary. She lived in Cedar Rapids for two years, so her son could continue his gymnastic training at the University of Iowa. She retired in December 1988 after 23 years of service in the school system.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry; two sons, Allan (Karen) of Cedar Rapids, and Jeff (Marlys) of Chelsea; a daughter, Laura (David) Miller of Cedar Falls; one granddaughter, Amanda Repp of Cedar Falls; four grandsons, John of Cedar Rapids, Ethan of Cedar Falls, and Dakota and Colton of Chelsea; two sisters, Mary Jans of Reinbeck, and Helen Hoffer of Cedar Falls; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents; a brother, George Roberts; and a sister, Alice Hernandez.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Timothys United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery, Dike. Friends may call from 4 to 7:30 p.m. today at Richardson Funeral Home in Cedar Falls and for an hour before services Wednesday at the church.
