Burton, Janet Dale
Janet Dale Burton, 65, of Tustin, Calif., formerly of Cedar Rapids, died in her home Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010, following a long illness. Funeral mass at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Tustin, Calif. A rosary prayer service will be held at 9:30 a.m. in the church, preceding the mass. Omega Society, Santa Ana, Calif., (714) 754-7781, is handling arrangements.
Survivors include her husband of 41 years, Kent Burton; a son, Ian and his wife, Danielle and granddaughter Payton Marie; three brothers, William C. and Maryanne Dale Jr., and John and Phyllis Dale, all of Cedar Rapids, and Jim Dale of Irvine, Calif.; a sister, Joan and Dennis Kling of Austin, Texas; sisters-in-law, Betty Dale of Cedar Rapids, and Gayle Truesdell of San Dimas, Calif.; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fern and Bill Dale Sr.; and a brother, Bob Dale.
Born March 25, 1944, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, as Janet Mae Dale, to Fern and Bill Dale Sr., she moved to California with her parents in 1957. She graduated from Alhambra High School, Alhambra, Calif., in 1962, attended Mount San Antonio College and California State University-San Jose. Janet retired from Pacific Mutual Life Insurance in 1992, after 25 years, serving as benefits manager in their corporate office in Newport Beach, Calif.
Janet especially enjoyed traveling, camping and fishing with her husband, Kent and son, Ian. Janet's most recent trip was to the Holy Land in 2008 with family members.
Janet will be remembered by all who knew her for her spirit, courage, sense of humor and love of family.
