Burns, Thomas Edward
Thomas Edward Burns, 54, of Macon, Ga., died there Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Chapel in Marietta, Ga., with the Rev. Mark Barbour officiating. Family will receive friends from 5 to 7:30 tonight at the funeral home.
Survivors include one sister, Barbara M. Burns and husband Allen Stewart of Ann Arbor, Mich.; four brothers, John J. Burns of Waterloo, James R. Burns and wife Nancy J. of Marietta, Ga., Timothy C. Burns and wife Violy of Santa Cruz, Calif., Frances Allen Burns and wife Roxanne of Mason and Burton Anthony Burns and wife Gi-Gi of Waterloo; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Burns was born and raised in Waterloo, Iowa and he worked with John Deer Tractor Works in Waterloo and with Black Hawk County. He lived in Cedar Rapids and was a manager for M.C.I. Mr. Burns moved to Marietta, Ga., in 2002 and, in 2006, to Macon, Ga., where he was employed as an insurance agent for Blue Cross/Blue Shield Insurance Co. He was a master gardener and had a passion for golf.
