Burnita 'Bernie' Dennis
BURNITA "BERNIE" ANN DENNIS Cedar Rapids Burnita "Bernie" Ann Dennis, of Cedar Rapids, passed peacefully at age 77 on Sept. 21, 2017, after a long illness. Although our hearts are hurting and she will be missed tremendously, we have countless fond and happy memories to make us smile when we think of her. As the matriarch of our family, she was a strong woman who always put family first. She did not hesitate to be there anytime she was needed. She was our rock; her home was our home; she kept us all very close. We will continue to live by the values which she instilled in us. She will continue to be in our hearts always and forever. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Melvin C. Dennis; siblings, Della, Bernard, Kenny and Shirley; and great-granddaughter, Glenna. She is survived by her children, Glenda, Brenda, Glenn Jr., Anthony and Tammy and Steven; grandchildren, Stacy, Chanda, Jimmie, Leah, Ernest, Tabitha, Byron and ZaDaysha, Jamison, Jared and Heather, LeeRoy and Porchia; great-grandchildren, Jon and Justice, Eleyjuan, Aniyah, Ahnikkah, Caden, ZaVina, Endrexx, Maddox, Jaxxon, Lexi, Shawn, Anna, Trenton, Nevah, Elijiah, Jayon, JaZiah and E'mere; and sisters, Mary and Donna. A Letter from Heaven When tomorrow starts without me, and I'm not here to see, If the sun should rise and find your eyes, filled with tears for me. I wish so much you wouldn't cry, the way you did today, While thinking of the many things, we didn't get to say. I know how much you love me, as much as I love you, And each time you think of me, I know you'll miss me too. When tomorrow starts without me, don't think we're far apart, for every time you think of me, I'm right there in your heart. Per her wishes, there will be no funeral service. Just remember her the way you knew her.
