Burkholder, Joanne
Joanne Burkholder, 65, of Monticello, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, June 21, 2010, at Jones Regional Medical Center, Anamosa, of heart failure. Funeral Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 25, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids, by Pastor David Loy. Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, David of Monticello; a son, Mark (Mandy) Angotti of Salt Lake City, Utah; two daughters, Christine (Allen) Wehmeyer of Solon and Teresa Mitchell of Coggon; a sister, Marcella Straney of Scottsdale, Arizona; a brother, Don Martin (Janet) Angotti of Cedar Rapids; stepson, Solomon Burkholder of Anamosa; eight grandchildren: Keefer, Carly, and Brett (Lindsay) Wehmeyer; Devin Bender, Jessie and Jonah Sheets; Jovannah Angotti, and Kyle Olson; and one great-granddaughter, Madeleine Wehmeyer.
Joanne was born Aug. 28, 1944, the daughter of Donald and Lorraine (Witt) Angotti in Cedar Rapids. She attended school at Immaculate Conception and graduated from Washington High School in 1963. Later on she received her Associate of Arts from Kirkwood Community College. She married Robert Bender and they later divorced. For over twenty years, Joanne worked as an outpatient registrar for Mercy Medical Center. On May 12, 1996, she married the love of her life, David Burkholder in Marion.
She enjoyed gardening, working in her yard, and taking care of her animals. Joanne loved spending time with her family and watching her grandson, Kyle race stock cars.
Her parents and an infant son, Michael Alan preceded her in death.
