Burgan, Ann (Wolrab)

Ann (Wolrab) Burgan, 89, of Red Oak, formerly of Mount Vernon, died Dec. 26, 2009, at Hospice with Heart House in Glenwood. Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home in Red Oak, followed by burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with family present will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Survivors include her sons, Patrick Martin of Moorpark, Calif., and Steve Martin of Glenwood.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother, Milo Wolrab.

Ann was raised and graduated from high school in Mount Vernon. She then attended beauty school in Des Moines. Ann was united in marriage to Maurice J. Martin on Feb. 6, 1946, in Belle Plaine. Her first beauty shop she owned was in Belle Plaine. She and Maurice moved to Atlantic, Iowa in l949 and they owned and operated a hotel business, along with a restaurant, bar, beauty and barber shop and a laundromat all at the same location. She later married William G. Burgan on June 10, 1967, in Omaha, Neb. Ann and William moved to Red Oak in l969.
