Burchett, Shelley R.
Shelley R. Burchett, 52, passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2012, in Des Moines, after a long illness.
She was born Nov. 25, 1959, in Moline, Ill., daughter of Clara Mae (Bane) and Donald G. Burchett.She attended schools in Moline, and Cedar Falls, and graduated as valedictorian from Hempstead High School in Dubuque. She received her BA in Psychology and MA in Industrial Relations from Iowa State University. Her father was pleased and proud that she chose to attend and graduated from his alma mater.
Shelley worked at Pioneer Hi-Bred for over 20 years in the Human Resources Department in various areas of Compensation and Development.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents and her father, Donald G. Burchett.
She is survived by her mother, Clara Burchett of Dubuque; her sister, Lisa L. York of Platteville, Wis.; three nephews, Steven Jacobson and Ben Jacobson of Dubuque, and Florian Jacobson of Platteville, Wis.; and her “second sister,” cousin, Melinda (Morris) Petersen of Goldfield.
A memorial service and burial is planned for 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, at Illyria Community Church, rural Elgin.Burial will follow at the Illyria Community Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shelley Burchett Memorial Fund.
