Bunch, William Lloyd 'Bill'
William Lloyd “Bill” Bunch, 44, a resident of Long Grove, Iowa, died Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, at Eldridge United Methodist Church, Eldridge. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Chambers Funeral Home in Eldridge.
Bill was born March 4, 1966, in Sacramento, Calif., to Robert W. and Linda L. Bunch. Bill grew up in Fair Oaks, Calif., State College, Pa., Caney, Kan., and Edgewood, Iowa, graduating from Edgewood-Colesburg High School in 1984. He attended Indian Hills Community College, Ottumwa, and University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls. Bill received a Bachelor of Arts degree in science education in 1991. He married Susan Abbas on June 27, 1992, in Eldridge. Bill and Susan have two daughters, Brittany and Emily. Bill and Susan divorced in 2005.
Bill was a very caring teacher at various schools during his teaching career. He initially taught science at Mason City Middle School and North Scott Junior High. He then became certified to teach Industrial Technology and taught at Central High School in DeWitt, Wood Intermediate School and Davenport North High School. Being athletic and fond of kids, he also coached basketball and volleyball. He also owned and operated Long Grove Paint and Remodel for five years. His interests included wood working, home remodeling, gardening, baking, exercising, church, reading and being a daddy.
Bill is survived by his parents, Linda Rowell, Edgewood, and Robert Bunch, Independence, Mo.; his children, Brittany and Emily Bunch, Eldridge; his brother, Bruce Bunch, Independence, Mo.; his sisters, Patty VanMeter, Marion, and Sue Richmond, Warwick, N.Y,; his nephews, Seth Jensen and Kyle VanMeter, both of Marion, and Spencer Richmond and Ryan Fortunato, both of Warwick, N.Y.; his nieces, Tabitha Schaul and Alexis VanMeter, both of Marion; and great-nieces, Kaylee and Aurora Sagner, both of Marion. Bill is also survived by his stepsister, Debra Gleason, her husband, Nile, and daughter, Susan, all of Edgewood, and daughter, Sally Taylor, Cedar Rapids. He is also survived by many friends and his special cat, Bubba.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for a memorial fund for a local suicide prevention group to be established.
