Buffy Jo Hocken, 39, of Walker, died Saturday, June 13, 2015, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids.
Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 17, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point, by Pastor Gary Wilson. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, at the funeral home. Burial: St. Patrick's Cemetery, Winthrop.
Survivors include her mother, Chris of Walker; her siblings, Shawn (April) Hocken of Walker, Wendy (Steve) Plantenberg of Robins and Tina (Mike) Chapman and Misty (David) Cavalier, both of Walker; her nieces and nephews, Shannon (Anna) Hocken, Samantha (Amanda) Hocken, Mikeala Chapman, Hunter Chapman, Madalyn Cavalier, Austin Cavalier and Lakyn Plantenberg; a great-niece, Quinn Hocken; maternal grandparents, Donald and Georgia Sherrets; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and her dog, Marley.
She was preceded in death by her father, DeWayne; her dog, Harley; and paternal grandparents, Merlin and Kathryn Hocken.
Buffy was born Oct. 30, 1975, the daughter of DeWayne and Christina (Sherrets) Hocken, in Independence, Iowa. A graduate from Kennedy High School in 1997, she worked at Hocken's Stop and Shop.
Buffy enjoyed being "mama" babysitter for her nieces and nephews, listening to music, cruising in her golf cart, camping and riding her bike. Most of all, she loved being with her family and friends. To meet Buffy was to love Buffy as she brought a smile to everyone's face.
