Buddy Lee Hoffman, 73, of Marion, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2015 at Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice of Mercy in Hiawatha. Per Buddy's wishes, his body was donated to the University of Iowa for medical
research. A celebration of life will be at a later date. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion.
Survivors include his son, Steve (Joni) Hoffman of Peoria, Ill.; daughter, Nancy Hoffman of Marion; grandchildren, Amy (Kyle) Goldsberry, Christian (Chelsey) Hoffman, Sydney Hoffman (Cody Schroeder) and Sawyer Hoffman; great-grandchildren, Evan and Emma Goldsberry, and Hayden, Harper and Hadlee Schroeder; and siblings, Lee (Patty) Hoffman, Shirley Dodds and Carol (Larry) Farrar.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Michael Hoffman; and great-grandson, Adler Goldsberry.
Buddy was born Oct. 2, 1942, to Earl and Doris (Ford) Hoffman in Marion, Iowa. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and was stationed at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. He was in Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis and was an amphibious vehicle mechanic. Buddy married Vivian Sue Lattimer on Aug. 28, 1966, in North Carolina. He was employed at ADM and was a semi driver.
Buddy enjoyed fishing and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye football and basketball fan.
