Budding, Gwendolyn L.
Gwendolyn L. Budding, 84, of 619 Park St., Grinnell, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center. Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Entombment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home and after 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, John William Budding, a son; Lynn (Jeanette) Budding of Grinnell; a daughter, Susan (Rick) Carroll of Marion; a son, Wayne (Diane) Budding of Wilton; a sister, Margaret O'Banion of Cedar Rapids; and four grandchildren, Ryan, Tyler, John and Patrick.
Her parents preceded her in death.
Gwendolyn was born Aug. 10, 1926, in Monument, Kan., the daughter of James and Edythe O'Banion. Following graduation from high school she attended nurses' training at Henrotten Hospital and Cook County Hospital in Chicago, where she earned her R.N. in nursing. She married John Budding on Oct. 6, 1951, in Freeport, Ill.
Gwendolyn was a member of PEO, Questers, and St. Paul's Methodist Women Abigail Circle. Gwendolyn loved cooking, antique furniture and glassware, cake decorating, knitting and working on the computer. Her favorite pastime was spending time with family and friends.
