Buddie Dean Stegman, 89, of Cedar Rapids, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, July 20, 2021. Private services will be held at Teahen Funeral Home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Cemetery. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.
Dean is survived by his son, Jeffrey (Malynda) Stegman of Hiawatha; granddaughter, Samantha Stegman (Ken Templeton) of Hiawatha; sister-in-law, Nancy (Cecil) Ellison of Solon; brother-in-law, Robert (Jan) Coleman of Cedar Rapids; and godson, Matthew (Shelly) Ellison of Solon.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Alice, in March, 2021; and brother, Maurice.
Dean was born on Sept. 11, 1931, in Berlin, Mo., son of Loren and Bonnie Hardin Stegman and graduated in 1949 from Franklin High School, Cedar Rapids. He married Alice Coleman on Nov. 10, 1951, in Des Moines. Dean began working in 1951 for Smulekoff's, Cramer's and Kenwood House. In 1976, he and Alice began Stegman Custom Draperies, never retiring. He also helped his son at MAKA Blind.
Dean enjoyed traveling, especially to Door County, Wis., where he enjoyed the many restaurants. He loved spending time with his family, going hunting and fishing. Dean enjoyed playing golf and watching his favorite players. He was also an avid Iowa Hawkeyes, Green Bay Packers and Chicago Cubs fan. He enjoyed spinning the wheels in area casinos from time to time up to the day he died. Dean will be missed by his friends and family.
Instead of flowers memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor choice.
