Buckner, Robert
Robert Buckner, 59, formerly of Monticello, died Wednesday August 3, 2011, at University Hospital, Iowa City after a long and courageous battle with bladder cancer. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 8, at the First Presbyterian Church, Monticello, with interment in the Oakwood Cemetery. The Rev. Al Polito will officiate at the services. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello.

Bob leaves many family members behind, his fiancee, Lori Boffeli; her sons, Jeff and Jeremy Boffeli; five siblings, Donna (Gerry) Rohr, Dianne (Jerry) Haag, William (Ann) Buckner, all of Monticello, Richard (Janet) Buckner, Hopkinton, and Debra (David) Claus, Sacramento, Calif.; and 11 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Robert D. Buckner was born on June 17, 1952, at Monticello, Iowa. He was the son of Donald and Earlene Battles Buckner. He graduated from the Monticello Community Schools with the class of 1970. Bob had 45 years of dedicated love for driving a truck. He has worked for various employers over the years. His most recent employer was North East Iowa Freight in Wyoming.
