Bryant Sr., Oliver
Oliver Bryant Sr., 89, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Waterloo, died June 22, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital from natural causes. Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Shilliam Avenue Church of God in Christ, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Sanders Funeral Service in Waterloo and 10 a.m. to service time Friday at the church.
Oliver was born July 3, 1921, in Russellville, Ark., son of Lawrence Bryant and Cornelius Thomas. He was co-founder and assistant pastor at New Jerusalem Church of God in Christ in Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include two daughters, Deidra (William) Speller of Waterloo and Michelle (Glenn) Manning of Minneapolis; four sons, Lawrence of Cedar Rapids, Oliver Jr. (JoAnn) of Waterloo, Michael (Cynthia) of Oxnard, Calif., and Dwayne of Cherokee Village, Ark.; several grandchildren; and two sisters, Edna Bowdy of Los Angeles and Louise MiCou of Detroit, Mich.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father; and two sisters, Anna Mae Richardson and Mary Dell Thompson.
