Brust, Loretta R. 'Rose'
Loretta R. “Rose” Brust, 91, of Mason City, formerly of La Porte City, died Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2010, at Keystone Cedars Assisted Living in Cedar Rapids, her home for the last 4 ½ years. Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, St. Paul United Methodist Church, with burial in West View Cemetery, both in La Porte City. Visitation will be one hour before the service Saturday at the church.
She was born Oct. 25, 1918, in Waterloo, the daughter of Fred and Gertrude Wilcox Klinger. She married Carl Brust on June 2, 1940, in Waterloo. He preceded her in death in November 2003. She had worked 28 years for the Mason City Public Schools as a kitchen manager, retiring in 1981.
Surviving are one son, Jim Brust of Marion; two granddaughters, Lindsay Brust of Boulder, Colo., and Emily Brust of Silverthorne, Colo.; two brothers-in-law, Dr. Richard (Margaret) Brust of Monmouth, Ore., and Al Brustkern of Cedar Rapids; and two nephews, David Brustkern of Des Moines and Al Brustkern of Morrison, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter in infancy; one granddaughter, Megan Brust; and one sister, Lois Brustkern.
In Lieu of flowers, the family asks memorials be given in Loretta's name to Iowa Hospice, 800 First Ave. NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402 or to the Parkinson's Foundation.
Loretta will be loved, missed and never forgotten. Amen.
