Brus, Donna
Donna Brus, 59, of North Liberty, died Sunday, Aug. 14, 2011, at her home following a long battle with lung cancer. Funeral services will start at 6 p.m. following visitation from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, at Brosh Chapel in Solon, located at 100 South Cedar St. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
Donna was born Jan. 1, 1952, in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Art and Rosemary Brus. She graduated from the University of Iowa and spent her entire career working for the university until her retirement in 2008 due to health reasons.
Donna was an avid Hawkeye fan and especially enjoyed tailgating with her “Hawkeye” friends. She looked forward to her yearly fishing trips to Canada. She was a 26-year member of the North Liberty American Legion Auxiliary.
Donna is survived by her sister, Debbie (Gary) Powell of Stockton; niece, Christy (Robert) Sheeder of Stockton; nephew, Robert (Julia) Powell of Blue Grass; great-nieces and great-nephews, Robert, Lakin, Ryan Sheeder and Kaitlyn and Austin Powell; and longtime partner, Gary Moel, and his extended family.
She was preceded in death by parents.
