Brundage, Thomas Frank
Thomas Frank Brundage, 66, of Ely, died Monday, May 23, 2011, at Christian Hospital Northwest in St. Louis, Mo., from medical complications he suffered after a fall while assisting his daughter and son-in-law after their home was struck by a tornado. Services: 1 p.m. Saturday at Teahen Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids, where friends may visit after 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial: St. Joseph's Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Tom was born Oct. 7, 1944, in Des Moines, the son of Harvey and Mary (Glenn) Brundage. After graduation from Tama High School, he joined the Army serving until 1965. He married Kathleen Kremenak on April 2, 1966, in Tama. Tom worked in many different occupations and moved his family to Texas after obtaining employment as a welder. Upon return to Iowa, Tom worked at the Iowa Medical and Classification Center as a correctional officer for 22 years, retiring in September 2006.
Tom enjoyed fishing, watching sports, going to the casino, traveling and visiting Civil War sites, as well as spending time with family.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents.
Tom is survived by his wife, Kathleen; daughter, Michelle (Joe) Reyna of St. Louis; son, Tom E. Brundage of Urbana; and two grandchildren, Joshua and Juliana Reyna of St. Louis.
Tom is also survived by his father and mother-in-law, Edward and Ollie Kremenak of Clutier; his brothers-in-law, David (Sharon) Kremenak of Marengo and Darrell (Gayle) Kremenak of Laurens, S.C.; as well as two nieces and many cousins.
