Bruce Allen Slaymaker, 62, of Mount Vernon, formerly Cedar Rapids, died peacefully at home with family at his side on Monday, July 6, 2015. A private celebration of life will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 12.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Danni Dunnick-Slaymaker (married 1/20/2000) of Mount Vernon; his brothers, Robert Slaymaker (Joyce and family) and Burton Slaymaker (Hope and family); and his children, Tina McGinness-Meyer (and family), Steve Venenga, Shane Jacobs (and family) and Tiffani Colvin (Tyson and family). Bruce had many nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Aletha Greene and Bert Slaymaker.
Bruce Allen Slaymaker was born June 9, 1953. He graduated from Kennedy High School and joined Laborers Local 43 in 1977, he then retired to his cabin where he enjoyed a life being surrounded by nature. Bruce enjoyed hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting and cracking a cold one. He also enjoyed dining out and frequenting the casinos.
Bruce will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
