Bruce was born Dec. 8, 1948, in Omaha, Neb., the son of Lester David and Aleene Eleanor (Anderson) Scheib. He grew up in Shenandoah, Iowa, and attended Shenandoah Community High School, where he excelled in sports, met his soon-to-be wife, and graduated from high school with honors. Bruce attended Drake University for two years, then transferred to the University of Iowa, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in business.
Bruce married Annette Regan in August 1970, and together they welcomed their son Michael Adam Scheib on Sept. 15, 1985. Bruce spent most of his professional career as a computer programmer and information systems manager. He worked at Venger's in Omaha, Miller and Rhoads and Crestar Bank in Richmond, Va., and retired from MCI in Cedar Rapids.
Bruce had many interests. He was passionate about sports. He loved to participate in them, follow his favorite teams, including the Iowa Hawkeyes, and spend countless hours with his son playing, discussing and watching sports together. Bruce was a gifted runner during high school, where he collected many accolades, and as an adult was an accomplished long-distance runner. He completed 10 marathons, several half marathons and many other races over several decades. He and his family enjoyed visiting America's national parks during their vacations and viewing historic sights on the East Coast while his family lived in Virginia.
Bruce was part of a large circle of family who loved him. His family includes his wife, Annette; his son, Michael Scheib; brother, Rex Scheib; sister and her husband, Sheila and Tony Brannen; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Edward and Rosalie Regan, Daniel and Donna Regan, Mary Kay Gee, Rose Welchans, Connie and Stephen Greenleaf and Charles and Kim Regan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
