Claremont, Minn.
Bruce Laverne Moravec, 58, of Claremont, Minn., died unexpectedly of a heart attack Friday, Jan. 4, 2019, at his home.
Bruce was born May 26, 1960, in Owatonna, Minn., the son of Alvis and Bertha (Dahlke) Moravec. He attended Owatonna High School and graduated in 1978. Bruce met Renee Taylor online via an AAL website with Singles Mingle in 2000. After emailing for a year, they met in person at the Cedar Valley Nature Trail in Cedar Rapids. He married Renee on June 9, 2002. In the summer of 2016, the couple moved to Minnesota to follow a dream or vision and to help Bruce's mom, Bertha. Most recently, Bruce worked at Auto Value in Faribault as a store manager.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Renee Moravec; mother, Bertha of Claremont; his sisters, Debbie Nelson of Owatonna, Laurie Moravec of Owatonna and Amy (Peter) Scarborough of La Crosse, Wis.; nephew, Christopher (Crystal) Nelson and his children, Danica, Jerica, Christia, and Isaac of Red Wing, Minn.; nieces, April and Teresa Scarborough of La Crosse and Rachel Scheidt of Coralville; sister-in-law, Ronda (Dennis) Scheidt of Coralville; and parents-in-law, Keith and Myra Taylor.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alvis.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Owatonna, with the Rev. Kirk Griebel officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Michaelson Funeral Home, Owatonna, and one hour before services Friday at the church. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery in Owatonna. Memorials are preferred to the donor's choice.
