Bruce Eugene Bauer, 77, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at his home in Vinton, due to a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was surrounded by his family and beloved French Bulldogs, Lucy and Harley,
A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM, Friday, May 31, 2024 at the Phillips Funeral Home Chapel (212 E. 6th Street in Vinton) with a memorial service and time for sharing beginning at 10:45 AM. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton.
Bruce was born July 22, 1946, in Vinton, Iowa, the son of Walter and Lucille (Kavalier) Bauer. He graduated from Washington High School in Vinton with the Class of 1964. Bruce married Carla Primmer on September 6, 1963, at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Vinton. The couple were married for almost 48 years, prior to Carla’s death in 2011.
Bruce worked as a machinist at Rockwell-Collins for many years, and worked closely with the engineers, testing various ideas prior to production. He was an accomplished wood worker and craftsman and enjoyed camping with family as well as fishing.
Bruce is survived by his 3 children, Brett (Danelle) Bauer, and their son Jack; Betty Jo (Bryan) Fancher, and their two children, Zachary (Brianna) and their 2 children, Elaina, and Elijah, and Ansley; Beth (Jim) Mayhew, and their 2 children, Cory (Katlyn) and their two sons, Rhett and Warren, and Nicolas; 2 brothers, Walter Bauer, and Steve Bauer, and 3 sisters, LaVon Bearbower, Karen Johnson, and Sherri McGowan, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Carla
