Bruce, Elmer Moler
Elmer Moler Bruce, 89, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital. There will be no visitation or service. Inurnment will take place at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories Mausoleum in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Elmer was the son of John and Anna (Moler) Bruce. He was born Sept. 24, 1920, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He attended and graduated from McKinley High School and the University of Iowa. On July 21, 1942, Elmer joined the Army where he served four years during World War II. Elmer was united in marriage to Vera June Kiel on May 29, 1948. Elmer worked as a mechanical engineer for Iowa Manufacturing Co., Allis Chalmers, Collins Radio Co., Norand, and Turner Microphone before becoming a partner in Armstrong & Associates; he later retired from Rockwell Collins.
Elmer enjoyed woodworking, computers, traveling, and spending time with his family.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Elmer is survived by his son, Doug Bruce of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Anna Bruce; his wife, Vera; and a sister, Alice Leroy Jackson.
