Bruce A. Platteter, 82, passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2023.
Visitation will be held Monday, March 20, 2023, at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City, where the family will greet friends from 2 to 5 p.m. A Memorial Service will follow at 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Antique Car Museum of Iowa or to Trinity United Methodist Church in Riverside.
Bruce was born March 7, 1941, in Owen, Wis., the son of Reuben and LaVerna (Mitzloff) Platteter. He was raised in Stetsonville, Wis., and West Branch. Bruce graduated from West Branch High School in 1959. On Sept. 18, 1971, Bruce married Dianne See in Mount Vernon.
Bruce enjoyed his work as a courier driver for Hills Bank and Trust. He also volunteered at the Antique Car Museum of Iowa for many years.
Bruce was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Riverside where he was a longtime resident. He was an avid car collector and founding member of the Iowa Valley Region Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA). He also belonged to the Cedar Rapids AACA, Iowa City Classy Chassis Cruisers, National Corvair Corsa Club, Iowa Corvair Enthusiasts, Cedar Valley Region Chevrolet Club and the National Chevrolet Club of America.
Bruce is survived by Alicia (Luke) Christen of Lisbon; Wayne (Jasmine) Platteter of Newland, N.C.; and Carl (Tory) Platteter of Iowa City; five grandchildren, including Dylan (Jordan) Parkinson, Tessa Beale, and Abigail, Anna and Henry Platteter; his great-granddaughter, Nora Parkinson; and many nieces and nephews.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and his brother, Roger.
