Browning, Ervin Jerome

Ervin Jerome Browning, 44, of 1502 12th Ave. SE, Cedar Rapids, passed away Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011 at home, surrounded by family and friends.

Ervin was born in Camden, Ark., raised in Michigan and moved to Cedar Rapids when he was 20 where he built a life with his children. Ervin loved fishing, camping, bingo and playing dominoes with his family and friends.

Survivors include his sons, Ervin, Dartanyah, Edward, Eric and Edmund; three daughters, Adrina, Andrea and Erin; two grandchildren; his mom, Helen of Saginaw, Mich.; four brothers, Melvin, Jerry, Lucious (Sandra) and David “Wayne;” one sister, Patricia; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Ervin was preceded in death by his father, Lucious Browning (known as Uncle Brother); and a sister, Carolyn Green.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Veronica Johnson, Mercy Dialysis, Mercy physicians and nurses, Grant Wood and McKinley schools, LIFT drivers and staff, the Department of Human Services, Judge Flarity, the UNI staff, Annette at Leased Housing and Bill Davis, a longtime family and friend.

Family may be greeted from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Gospel Tabernacle Church, 2531 42nd St. NE, Cedar Rapids. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 26, at Tabernacle Missionary Church in Saginaw, Mich.
