Brownell, Rosalie Joan
Rosalie Joan Brownell, 73, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died peacefully in her sleep at her home in Holy Cross after a long illness on Thursday, May 17, 2012. Services: 1 p.m. Tuesday at Teahen Funeral Home, by the Rev. William B. Harnish. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit Tuesday after 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
She is survived by her husband, Vern Brownell of Holy Cross; her mother, Josephine Rompot of Cedar Rapids; four sons, Kurt (Cheryl) Carlson of Marion, Alan Carlson of Lowdon, Eric Carlson of Cedar Rapids and Paul (Jen) Brownell of El Paso, Texas; three daughters, Kristi (Larry) Schaeppi of Eagan, Minn., Judy Martin of Cedar Rapids and Teresa (Rob) Redenbaugh of Farley; 17 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, with two on the way; and two sisters, Peggy Zach and Patsy Boding.
Rosalie was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald Carlson; and her father.
Rosalie was born May 15, 1939, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Joseph and Josephine (Suchomel) Rompot. She married Donald L. Carlson on Aug. 9, 1957, in Marion. He died in 1987. She married Vern Lynn Brownell on Jan. 31, 2005, in Holy Cross.
Rosalie loved her family and enjoyed crocheting blankets for everyone in the family.
