Brown, Robert 'Bob' Bernard
Robert “Bob” Bernard Brown, 76, died Wednesday, June 8, 2011, in his home. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 13, at Blessed John XXIII Catholic Church, with Father Dustin Vu presiding. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW.
Bob was born July 20, 1934, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Bernard Charles and Ethel (Keegan) Brown. He married Dorothy Easterday on July 8, 1955, in Cedar Rapids. Bob worked for Rockwell Collins for many years until his retirement.
Bob enjoyed camping, spending winters in Texas, the Cubs and Hawkeyes. His love was watching and being involved with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Bob is survived by his wife of nearly 56 years, Dorothy; children, Matthew (Tammy) Brown of Monticello, Michael (Tracy) Brown of North Liberty, Carie (Stephen) Kramer of Altoona and Mark (Jackie) Brown of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren, Shalaine, Kourtney, Colin, Morgan and Joseph; and his sisters, Jean Brown of Cedar Rapids and Marilyn (Bill) Wolfe of Urbana.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, and a grandson, Troy Brown.
Memorials may be directed to family.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Dr. Greg Hayes and staff and Mercy Hospice staff, especially his nurse Penny, for their love and care for Bob.
