Richard (Dick) Brown, 83
Richard (Dick) Brown of Iowa City died peacefully on the morning of Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013. Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 6, at First Presbyterian Church, Iowa City, with the Rev. Sam Massey officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City.

Richard Paul Brown was born June 15, 1930, in rural Johnson County, to Paul and Mary Brown. He grew up working on the family farm and graduated in 1947 from Iowa City High School. He then served his country in the Korean War. Upon returning to the states, he married his wife and companion for the following 58 years, Marilyn Lemon, on Oct. 15, 1954. They settled in Iowa City where Dick owned and operated Hilltop DX from 1954 until 1985. He then began a second career as a respected local real estate agent, until he retired in 2008. Dick was an active and devoted member of First Presbyterian Church, serving both as a deacon and elder to the congregation during his 54 years as a parishioner. He was a man of great strength and character who loved his family, singing and helping others.
ODick was preceded in death by Marilyn, his parents and four sisters.
Obits body copy_44: He will be missed, but always remembered, by his children, Dan (Tricia) Brown of Iowa City, Beth (David) Lange of North Liberty, Molly (Mark) Reynolds of Iowa City and Amy (Bret) Horrell of Iowa City; his grandchildren, Megan (Adam) Patton, Erin Lange, Nathan Reynolds, Caitlin Smith, Sean Smith, Bridget Brown, Muriel Brown and Sarah Horrell; his great-granddaughter, Isabella Patton; his sister, Jane Colony; brother, Bill (Lyda) Brown; and the many friends whose lives he touched.
