Brown, Kathryn G.
Kathryn G. Brown, 77, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital from a sudden illness. A funeral service celebrating Kathryn's life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 2, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. A private inurnment will be held at a later date.
She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Alan Brown; two daughters, Anna (Stephen) Strand of Marion and Lisa (Jim) Wichman of Sioux Falls, S.D.; a son, Ron Brown of Marion; grandchildren, Kirk (Katie) Strand, Kyle (Staci) Strand, Kade Strand, April (Travis) Buysse, Andrea (DJ) Nelson, AJ Wichman and Anissa Wichman; great-grandchildren, Ethan Strand, Parker Buysse and Mya Nelson; and two sisters, Ruby Hutchinson of San Francisco, Calif., and Mable Hood of Galesburg, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Vernon Hutchinson.
Kathryn Brown was born March 19, 1935, in Chillicothe, Mo., the daughter of Oliver and Helen (Kasper) Hutchinson. She married Alan Brown on Jan. 28, 1956, in Monmouth, Ill. Her greatest job was as a mother and wife. Kathryn enjoyed sewing, collecting and selling antiques, bowling with her “just an excuse” team and above all, time with her family.
She will forever be remembered for her kind smile and her love given to all. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be greatly missed.
