Brown, Gary Wayne
Gary Wayne Brown, 55, of Des Moines, was called home May 1, 2010, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston following a brief illness. A celebration of his life will be 7 p.m. Saturday, May 22, at Prairie Meadows Casino in The Meadows B Room. A private visitation and burial occurred before the celebration for his family.
Gary was born April 20, 1955, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to William V. Brown and Willa Mae (Mattison) Brown. He was a gifted cook and enjoyed creating wonderful meals for his family and friends who will miss those times with him.
Along with his mother, survivors include his immediate family and closest friends, Bruce Hunter and Betty Brim-Hunter; his two dogs, Pearl Mae and Maxwell Theodore; brothers, Vernon Brown and Vincent Brown of Las Vegas and Victor (Sandy) Brown and Jason (Jody) Brown, both of Cedar Rapids; brother-in-law, Lance Moreland; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
Gary was preceded in death by his father, William V. Brown; and sister, Vanessa O. Moreland.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Foundation, Feed the Children, Make-a-Wish Foundation or the Animal Rescue League.
