Vione Brooks, 97, of Strawberry Point, passed away at the Edgewood Convalescent Home in Edgewood on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011. Funeral services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, at the United Methodist Church in Strawberry Point, with Pastor Randy Moser officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in Cass Township Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Strawberry Point and one hour before services Saturday at the church.
Survivors include 10 children, Vance (Ardelle) Brooks of Manchester, Verdis (John) Feller of Waterloo, Verlene Kelly of Manchester, ValJean Berg of Cedar Rapids, Verle “Buster” Brooks of Central City, Veronica Fugate of Cedar Rapids, Valetta (Harley) Radloff of Postville, Vaylard (Betty) Brooks of Strawberry Point, Vikki Welsh (special friend Jim Fierstine) of Edgewood and Victor Brooks (special friend Misty Kahler) of Petaluma, Calif.; 40 grandchildren; 72 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and one brother-in-law, Benjamin Brooks of Florida.
Vione was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Albert Brooks in 1987; one son, Vincent Brooks in infancy; a son-in-law, Joe Heins; four brothers; six sisters; and five grandchildren.
