Broere, Mary Ella
Mary Ella Broere, 60, of Marion, passed away Sept. 10, 2012, in her home following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Visitation will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel. Burial will take place at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at Jacobsville Cemetery in Jacobsville, Mich.
Surviving are her husband, Gerald “Jerry” Broere of Marion; her children, Andrew Broere and wife Stefanie and their children, Landon, Lillian and Liam, of McDonough, Ga., and Emily Broere of Greenville, S.C.; her sisters, Nancy Anderson of Fort Gratiot, Mich., Virginia Lorencz and husband Joe of San Leandro, Calif., and Phyllis Bergh of Munising, Mich.; her nephews, Jeff Anderson and wife Lynn and Joel Anderson and wife Tammy, both of Port Huron, Mich., Ben Lorencz of Castro Valley, Calif., Matt Sutinen and wife Lisa of North Dakota and Jeff Sutinen of Louisiana; her nieces, Nora Dee and husband John and Amy Sutinen, all of Mohawk, Mich., Bethany Hardy and husband Patrick of Dallas and Rachel and Rebekah, both of San Leandro, Calif.; her aunt, Jinny Wagner of Fort Gratiot, Mich.; as well as numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
Mary Ella was preceded in death by her parents.
Mary Ella Broere was born Feb. 3, 1952, in Duluth, Minn., the daughter of Russell and June (Newton) Bergh. She was a graduate of Finlandia University and Western Michigan University. She was united in marriage to Gerald Donald Broere on June 8, 1974, in Calumet, Mich. Mary Ella had been an active member of Friendship Baptist Church, as well as a member of Village Place Chime group and Aid to Women. She loved sewing for her grandchildren and held various offices with the local American Sewing Guild chapter. She also taught sewing at the Bridgehaven Pregnancy Support Center.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mary Ella's honor may be directed to the family for a future donation to the Maranatha Baptist Bible College Music Department.
