Donald F. Britt, 85, of 2270 Farley Rd., Cascade, Iowa, died at 6:12 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family. Friends and relatives may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Reiff Funeral Home in Cascade, where a wake service will be held at 2:30 p.m. and Knights of Columbus rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Services for Donald will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Cascade, with the Rev. Douglas Loecke officiating. Burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Cascade.

Donald was born Nov. 25, 1928, in Buck Creek, Iowa, t he son of John J. and Eunice (Bearsley) Britt. He received his education from Buck Creek High School. On Feb. 1, 1951, he was united in marriage to VelmaLee A. Coohey. Donald enjoyed farming in the Buck Creek, Oxford Junction and Cascade areas, particularly livestock farming, until his retirement. Donald and VelmaLee enjoyed spending their winters in Arizona.

Donald was a devoted member of the St. Mathias Parish. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #930 and the 4th degree Dubourg Assembly #1573.

He is survived by four children, Michael Britt of Milton, Terry (Dianne) Britt of Lisbon, Bryan (Tricia) Britt of Monticello and Sheila (Jim) Fowler of Coal Valley, Ill; 11 grandchildren, Kelley (Derek) Oakley, Erin (Jeremy) Brown, Teresa (Tyler) Patterson, Faith, Cassi and Alex Britt, Kayla, Jennifer and Ryan Fowler and Rachel and Rebecca Britt; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Bill (Mary Ann) Britt of Manchester; a sister, Mary Ann (Merle) Schneiders of Masonville; a sister-in-law, Rose Britt of Buck Creek; and a sister and brother-in-law, Virginia (Joseph) Simon of Farley.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, VelmaLee A. Britt on Sept. 3, 2009; a brother, Paul Britt; and a brother and sister -in-law, Donald (Eleanor) Coohey.
