Brimmer, Earle Douglas
Earle Douglas Brimmer, 83, of Coralville, passed away Friday, Dec. 11, 2009, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City. Per Earle's wishes, his body has been cremated. Memorial services are pending.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Ann Brimmer of Coralville; son, Richard Brimmer of Deltona, Fla.; brother, Donald (Kathy) Brimmer of Bar Harbor, Maine; and two sisters, Barbara Jepsen of Apex, N.C., and Betty Lou Tucker of Gainer, N.C.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earle and Virgie Brimmer.
Earle was born May 31, 1926, to Earle and Virgie (Butler) Brimmer in Washington, D.C. He married Patricia Ann Howie on Aug. 7, 1982, in Rockville, Md. Earle was a United States Army veteran of World War II. He worked for the Defense Mapping Agency in Washington, D.C., for 38 years as a cartographer/map maker.
Earle had many interests and in all he excelled. He spent many summer days sailing his sloop on the Chesapeake Bay. He grew and showed mums and in this last year started an orchid collection. He was a master carpenter and constructed beautiful model boats. In his youth he competed internationally in rowing.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Friends of the Animal Center Foundation, Iowa City.
