Bridge, Larry D.
Larry D. Bridge, 68, of Scottsdale, Ariz., formerly of Cedar Rapids, was born May 23, 1944, in Vinton, Iowa, to James H. and Gladys (Della) Bridge. Larry entered into his rest Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, at Hospice of the Valley.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at Westdale Community Church, 3211 Edgewood Rd., Cedar Rapids, with Deacon Roger Hiles officiating.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Jayne; stepchildren, Martha Hoeck and Joe Strunce; two sisters, Dorothy Kautz and JoAnn Sisco (Gerald) of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren; cousins; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mary Lou Bridge and Wilma Kraus; and brother, James E. Bridge.
Larry graduated from Jefferson High School, University of Iowa and Drake University in Des Moines. While living in Des Moines, he was active in ministry.
On April 18, 1987, Larry and Jayne (Jones) were married in Urbandale, Iowa. They moved to Scottsdale, Ariz., where he worked at Maricopa County Hospital in the nursing field. Later he attended Seminary, was ordained and did ministry in Arizona. After retiring, he served as chaplain through the Banner Hospital System.
Larry was devoted to ministry and the field of nursing. He enjoyed traveling, quilting, creative arts, reading spending time with family, friends and his dog, Axis.
Larry will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
