Brian Michael Rios, 44, formerly of Iowa City, died Friday, Nov. 10, 2017, from injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident in Ben Wheeler, Texas, where he and his family resided. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 20, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Coralville followed by a time of fellowship and lunch at the church. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City, concluding with a parish vigil service. Brian was born March 10, 1973, in Iowa City, Iowa. He had been a resident of Ben Wheeler for eight years, formerly living in Oxford, Iowa. He was a jack-of-all-trades and loved to work in his shop. He enjoyed hunting and riding his Harley. He was a member of Sons of the Legion in North Liberty. He is remembered as a phenomenal baseball player and more recently had a passion for coaching his daughter's softball team. He never met a stranger. He loved to talk Mustangs, Harleys and sports with anyone. He was an amazing husband and father. He loved his kids to the fullest. Brian enjoyed just being on their property, taking care of their home and animals. He watched his grandchildren full time and enjoyed every moment.
His family includes his wife, Connie Rios of Ben Wheeler; his three daughters, Delaney Rios and Maya Rios, both of Blaine, Minn., and Taylor Rios of Ben Wheeler; two stepchildren, Carissa Marple of Coralville and Ryan Marple (Cathy) of Ben Wheeler; his parents, Benny and Margaret (Aubrecht) Rios of North Liberty; two brothers, Bradley Rios (Leigha) and Jason Rios (Lauren), both of North Liberty; five grandchildren, Aiden, Lexus, Lillian, Cylas and Jordan; parents-in-law, Larry and Iona Adrian of Iowa City; sister-in-law, Ronda Wilson of North Liberty; nephews and nieces, Tanner, Carter, Elle, Derek and Danielle; and many other family and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Binnie and Henry Rios and Robert and LaVerne Aubrecht; and aunts and uncles, Snow, Emmett, Helen, Raymond, Kathy and Gladys Rios and James Aubrecht.
