Brian D. Coffin Sr.,
57, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, July 22, 2015, at his home. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. Iowa Cremation is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his significant other, Karen; a daughter, Jennifer (Steven) Brink of Ely; a son, Brian Jr. (Kasandra) of Cedar Rapids; his mother, Dee of Marion; a brother, Brad (Susan) of Solon; two sisters, Beverly Coffin and Becky Baker, both of Cedar Rapids; his two grandchildren, Colton and Braxton; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
Brian was born on July 16, 1958, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Alan and Glendora Shaffer Coffin. He married Laurie Michael on March 17, 1979, in Cedar Rapids. They were later divorced.
Brian was a heavy machine mechanic at James W. Bell for over 35 years. He was a member of the Otter Creek Sportsman Club and was an avid Packer and NASCAR fan. Brian was an outdoors enthusiast, enjoying hunting, fishing, camping and playing softball.
His greatest joy, however, was spending time with his many friends and beloved family. His memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
Memorial donations may be given to Hospice of Mercy.
