Brian "Bossman" Smith, 51, died Thursday morning Dec. 9, 2021, at his home in Marion.

Brian was cremated and a Celebration of Life shall be held at a later date.

Brian earned an Associate's in Liberal Arts from Iowa Lakes Community College and a Bachelor's in Criminology from the University of Northern Iowa. There, he became a fraternal brother of Delta Chi. He also earn his CDL through Kirkwood Community College.

Brian appreciated life's simple comforts, his hobbies and the love of his family. Brian was a thoughtful caring person who would take time to share with anyone.

Brian was always searching for truth and knowledge, both of which steered his thoughts of people, politics and life.

It is difficult to properly describe Brian as a son, brother and true friend.

Brian is survived by his mother, Shirley G. Funte of Monticello; his father, Lawrence D. Smith (Nancy) of Marion; foster parents, Roger and Sandy Acridge of Graettinger; siblings, Michelle A. Fitzgerald (Evan), Kevin D. Smith (Joni), Derrick C. Smith (Kjersten) and Crystal K. Dingle; stepsiblings, Danielle Smith, Brian O'Geary, Sean O'Geary and Terry Funte; and nieces, nephews, cousins and many more.

We will all miss his kind heart, big smile and the light he showed upon us.
