Brian Erwin Begalske,
42, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, Jan. 29, 2016, at his home of natural causes. Memorial service: 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5, at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home. A visitation will be held one hour before the service. Entombment: Cedar Memorial Park Chapel Mausoleum.
Brian was born March 26, 1973, the son of Rollin and Ardell (Meyer) Begalske, in Cedar Rapids. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church. Brian attended Pierce Elementary, Harding Junior High and Kennedy High School. He was a sensitive, gentle and creative person. Brian greatly enjoyed art and music. He taught guitar, tarot and astrology classes at Kirkwood Community College in the evening education program. Brian occasionally performed his music solo or as part of Two Ton Mistress. He was very fond of cats and dogs, especially Maynard and Annebell. He always had a pet. Most of all, Brian cared for his family and friends.
Survivors include his parents, Rollin and Ardell Begalske; sister, Cathy (Jon) Koebrick; three nieces, Elizabeth Barrett, Amanda Barrett and Bailey Koebrick; one nephew, Chase Koebrick; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Memorials may be directed to the family or Cedar Valley Humane Society in Brian's memory.
