Brent “Bert” L. Brown, 58, of Hiawatha, passed away on Monday, October 14, 2024, at Mercy Medical Center. Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday, October 25, 2024, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion. Visitation will be from 2 – 4 p.m. In support of Brent wear your favorite Hawkeye gear.
Brent was born on May 21, 1966, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He graduated from Marion High School in 1984. Brent enlisted in the United States Army, served in Desert Storm, and was on active duty for six years.
Brent worked as a professional painter for Bennett Painting and Decorating. He enjoyed Iowa Football, basketball, fishing, mushroom hunting, collecting arrowheads, and being a Raiders fan.
Brent is remembered by his loving mother, Garnet Warren; his sister, Brenda (Goody) Goodnough; and his brothers, Brian (Kim) Brown and Billy (Tanya) VanGaalen.
Preceded in death was his father, Dick Brown, grandparents, James and Avalda Jordan, and Phyllis Decker.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Brent’s memory may be directed to the Freedom Foundation or the Marion American Legion.
