Brenda Oakley, 75, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed to be with her heavenly Father on Saturday, March 8, 2025. Visitation: 11 - 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids with a reception to immediately follow at 1 p.m. at The Legacy Center at Murdoch-Linwood. A private graveside burial will be held at Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Brenda was born August 24, 1949, in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Albert and Orvilla (McGrath) Walker. She graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in Mt. Vernon, Iowa. On May 24, 1969, Brenda was united in marriage to Patrick Oakley in Mt. Vernon. Her grandchildren were the love of her life and if you were lucky enough to know Brenda, you were lucky enough. She will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
Brenda is survived by her husband of 56 years, Patrick; sons, Patrick “Tim” (Brenda), and Jeffrey; grandchildren, Ashley (Bud), McKenna, Noah, Mackenzie, and Gaisey, great-grandson, Carter; siblings, Oz (Pam), Melissa, Janeen (Patrick) Oneill; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Pam Zimmerman, and brothers, Paul and Randy Simonds.
