Bremer-Brandes, Susan Kay

Susan Kay Bremer-Brandes, 62, of Marion, died Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, in her home from a short illness. Memorial Services: 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. David Beckman. Inurnment: Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include her sons, Vaughn M. (Andrea) Bremer of Peoria, Ill., and Derek J. Bremer of Chicago; and two brothers, Scott and Lance Vandenbroek, both of St. Hellen, Mich.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Susan was born Aug. 2, 1950, in Detroit, Mich., the daughter of James and Kathryn Mitchell Vandenbroek. She married Michael J. Brandes on April 15, 2011, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Susan was a nurse's aide and a member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church.

She enjoyed reading, caring for animals and spending time with friends and family.
