Breitbach, Lauretta A.
Lauretta A. Breitbach, 85, of Cascade, died Thursday, Dec. 24, 2009, at 9:55 a.m. at Shady Rest Care Center in Cascade. Friends and relatives may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Reiff Funeral Home in Cascade, where a wake service will be at 4 p.m. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Martin's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Douglas Loecke officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Lauretta was born May 27, 1924, in Monticello, Iowa, daughter of William and Gabena (Paulson) Behrends. She received her education in the rural Jones County country schools. On May 28, 1946, she was united in marriage to Edward Breitbach at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Cascade. Lauretta enjoyed cross stitching, embroidering, gardening, and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. Matthias Parish in Cascade.
Lauretta is survived by one daughter, Dianne (Walter) March of Worthington; one son, Ed (Renee) Breitbach of Anamosa; seven grandchildren, Kara, Amy, Brandon, Shirley, Earl, Barbara and Robert; and great-grandchildren, Allie, Madison, Briana, Shelby, Andrew, Lucas, William, Anthony, Kathryn, Wyatt, Bethany, Nathan, Mia, Carter and Hannah.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward F. Breitbach on June 8, 2005; one grandson, Ethan March; one brother, Richard Behrends; and four sisters, Mildred Meyers, Hazel Breitbach, Helen Trevine and Wilma Haag.
