Brandon Buehler, 40, of Cedar Rapids, IA, died on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, IA.
Brandon was born on June 8, 1984, in Oelwein, IA, the son of Jerry A. and Rebecca “Becky” L. (Hill) Buehler. Growing up on a farm in rural Oelwein he learned how to work hard. He often helped take care of the land, livestock, and machines. He developed his mechanical repair skills through trial and error. He always had a project he was trying to figure out but eventually got things to work again. Brandon spent a lot of his time outside and learned how to shoot at a young age. When he was given his first shotgun there were few days that Brandon was not out practicing his shooting skills. He often competed in local trap and skeet leagues with his father.
In 2002, Brandon graduated from Oelwein High School and enlisted into the United States Army. He served as a Calvary Scout in the Operation Iraqi Freedom and Afghanistan War. Brandon returned to Iowa in 2005, he spent several years working as a security guard for Pre-Mar in Cedar Rapids and on the assembly line at Maytag in Amana, IA. In 2014, He started working at the Linn County Secondary Roads Department. He came into his own there and developed many friends at work.
Golf was a passion of Brandon’s. He loved to practice and go out for a few rounds with friends. Every year he competed at the Cedar Rapids City Am tournament, his goal was to make to the final day of competition.
He is survived by his father, Jerry (Jeanie) Buehler, Oelwein, IA, his mother Becky (Aaron Nelson) Buehler, Independence, IA, his siblings; Justin Buehler, Independence, IA, Zachary (Ashley) Buehler, Central City, IA, Johnathan Buehler, Indianola, IA, and Falynn Buehler, Cedar Rapids, IA, his nieces, Ava, Zoey, and Nova Buehler, paternal grandmother, Janet Buehler, and maternal step-grandfather, Robert Kelley.
Brandon is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Lyle Buehler, maternal grandfather, Larry Hill, and maternal grandmother, Barbra Kelley.
A Military Honors will be held at 6:30 PM and a Memorial Service will follow on Monday, December 16, 2024, at the Reiff Family Center – Funeral Home & Crematory in Independence, IA. Visitation will be held from 4 PM until services on Monday at the funeral home.
