Brammer, Nancy Ann
Nancy Ann Brammer of Cedar Rapids passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at Meadow View Memory Care Village. A memorial service will take place at 1 p.m. Monday, April 25, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, where friends may call after 12:30 p.m. Following the service a reception will be held at the Family Center and Library at Cedar Memorial. Pallbearers include Joe Brammer, Tom Brammer, Nicholas Cole, Michael Mincks, Doug Cole and Ty Clark. Her burial will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery immediately following the reception. The Rev. Chris Slama will officiate.
Nancy was born Nov. 14, 1935, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Lee and Emily Gearhart. In 1954, she married Philip Brammer. After 24 years of marriage they divorced only to remain the best of friends. He preceded her in death in 1999. After raising her children, Nancy attended Kirkwood Community College and graduated in 1979, with a Food Service Management degree. She became a food service director for the Marriott Corporation for 15 years, managing the food service programs for Life Investors, Inc. and the Quaker Oats Corporation. She truly loved her work and the career that she had chosen.
The family wrote: “Our mother's special qualities included unconditional love, generosity and a very special mother's touch. Devoted to her family, she enjoyed her life and we will miss her forever until we are reunited. Our Mother will be remembered fondly as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be forever in the thoughts of her family and the friends she made along her life's journey.” She will be remembered for her deep compassion and caring for her family. She especially loved being “Grams.”
She is survived by her children, Vicky Scott of Cheyenne, Wyo., Joe Brammer (Kim) of Anchorage, Alaska, Jeanne Cole (Ty Clark) of Cedar Rapids, Tom Brammer of Cedar Rapids and Kathy (Bob Broadhurst) of Anchorage, Alaska; her brother, Lee (Marlene) Gearhart of Cedar Rapids; her grandchildren, Nicholas (Amy) Cole, Nichole Mincks, Kate (Mitch) Helle, Ashley Cole, Michael Mincks and Carson Brammer; her great-grandchildren, Aliyah Austin and Addyson Mincks; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a granddaughter, Emily Brammer.
