Bradley "Brad" E. Bodell, 60, of Solon, died peacefully Thursday, May 21, 2015, at his home surrounded by those he loved.
Bradley Eldon Bodell was born April 6, 1955, in Monroe, Mich., the son of Bernard Eldon Bodell and Elizabeth Ann (Conlisk) Bodell. Following graduation from Monroe High School, he pursued a career in funeral services, graduating from Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. He worked in funeral homes in Ottumwa and Fairfield, Iowa, before going back to school, graduating from the University of Iowa as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. Since that time he worked for Iowa Anesthesia, Health Enterprises Inc. at Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton and other regional hospitals.
Brad served on the board of the Iowa Association of Nurse Anesthetists (IANA) and was a clinical instructor with the University of Iowa Anesthesia Nursing Program. He enjoyed golfing, baking, traveling and visiting with friends and family.
He is survived by his fiancee, Anne Kwitek; daughter, Shannon Bodell of Iowa City; son, Tyler Bodell of Cedar Rapids; mother, Elizabeth Bodell of Monroe, Mich.; brother, Brian Bodell and his wife, Penny, of Monroe, Mich.; nephew, Heath; and niece, Heidi Bodell.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bernard.
No public services are planned, but online condolences may be sent to his family through the Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service website at www.gayandciha.com.
