Brad (Mark) Condon, 73 of Waterloo, passed away Friday, Nov. 10, at UnityPoint Allen Hospital.
Brad was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Jan. 21, 1950, to Robert T. Condon and Mary Lousie (Vosmek) Condon. Brad attended Kennedy High School where he was a member of the first graduating class in 1968. After high school, Brad attended the University of Iowa. While at the University of Iowa Brad was a member of the Phi Kappa Sigma Fraternity and cherished his time as manager of the Iowa football team, earning a spot in the Letterman’s Club. Brad majored in Finance and in 1972 earned a bachelor’s degree in business. After college, Brad went to work with his father and grandfather at Condon Real Estate. Brad’s career transitioned into banking where he held various executive positions in Cedar Rapids and Waterloo which spanned over 40 years, ending his career at Bank Iowa.
Brad married Terri Cilek in 1971, and later divorced. They had two children Christina and Brian and three grandkids, Brady Condon, Avery and Abby Tyshenko.
Brad married Ann Winninger on Aug. 15, 2004, in Waterloo. Their family became a special part of Brad’s life. The addition of three children Laura, Sara and Ben and 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren brought Brad much happiness.
Community involvement and civic organizations were always important to Brad. He volunteered and coached over the years. Most recently he was a past member of the Waterloo Exchange Club, volunteer manager at Sunrise Childrens Zoo for many years, past Treasurer of Black Hawk County Democrats, member of the Knights of Columbus, and volunteered for the AARP Tax Service. Over the years, Brad enjoyed fishing, golf, wood working, cooking, watching old TV shows and movies and was always in the midst of a project. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan, and the loss of his armchair coaching will most certainly leave a mark on the Iowa Hawkeye football program. Brad always had a sarcastic wit and loving heart, and most importantly loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Ann of Waterloo; his mother, Mary Louis Condon of Cedar Rapids; his children Christina (Ted) Tyshenko of Williams Bay, Wis., Brian (Jami) Condon of St. Louis, Mo., Laura (Jeff Palmer) Winninger of Waterloo, Sara Lopez of Rochester, Minn., and Ben (Dana) Winninger of Waterloo; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Condon.
